Wake Up 2018
American midterm election is in November, less than 3
months away. Why is this so important to countries outside the US? The US
foreign policy of Trump Administration can be strengthened or weakened
depending on the outcome of the result. But this is not likely to change anything
drastic. American election campaigns are rather nasty. GOP and Democrats have
already pushed throttle hard to gain momentum. Journalists and writers have got
their time to write political books to make money. There are already many books
in the market written for both Trump and Democrats. Democrats have no their
leader yet. Bob Woodward, a reporter and an associate editor of Washington
Post, is about to publish a political book, titled “Fear,” about which the
venerable Cho Gap-Je jumped into detail in some of his YouTube broadcasts very
recently. I am not going into its contents. But my question is why he and
therefore other Koreans want to get hurt from dirty American politics, while Koreans
have so many other issues to worry about.
Bob Woodward is an established journalist about the age of 75 who might
have written a story only to make money in an opportune time. He is well known
investigative journalist in Washington. I have known him since he was a young
man. He is in the opposite side of the Trump and in full charge to denigrate
Trump maximally to influence on the midterm election. He is politically shrewd.
He could be on either side to make profit by taking side. He is disliked by both Obama and Trump. But he
has an ability to write false juicy stories. Mr. Cho should know that Mr.
Woodward is untrustworthy for the sake of the security of South Korea. Mr.
Woodward is not focusing on South Korea but on destroying Trump. A blindfold
quote of Mr. Woodward’s book in his YouTube not only could ruin his credibility
but also is detrimental to the fair understanding of the US- South Korea
relationship. The way he presents in his YouTube gives me an impression of his
full confidence on Mr. Woodward. This is unfortunate for him in my opinion.
Mr. Cho is a conservative leaning journalist respected by
many Koreans. I have read and watched some of his columns and his YouTube
broadcasts. I like his works in general. I find he is not a friend of Trump and
finds fault of Trump whenever an opportunity comes. He is critical to the Trump
policy toward North Korea. He tries to depict Trump as a novice in politics. In
my view, he does make himself a political guru by denigrating Trump. He has his
right to have his own opinion. He takes liberal media such as CNN, ABC, NBC,
New York Times, Washington Post and so on as the Bible to make his cases. We
know they are fake news media just like KBS these days. But Koreans have been
trained to take the fake news and to take them as truthful. Not long ago,
Koreans wrongly believed the Hillary Clinton would be the next president of the
US. Now, Mr. Cho leads us to believe that the current President of the US is an
idiot. I like to know what a hidden plot he is forming to do what. This is a
sad reality. Naturally, he is
conservative only by Korean standard. He is not a conservative in real sense and
also is no liberal. He is a confused person in ideology. So I could not
understand why he doesn’t go fully with Trump’s policy. He could be a left
leaning conservative, if such wording is allowed. The reason why he dealt with
Woodward’s book could be Trump he doesn’t like. But he is likely to have made a
mistake on the book because the book is now highly controversial in terms of
credibility. I feel sorry that he took Woodward’s fiction as a real scoop. I am
afraid of his inability to see the whole truth of the story. Time will tell.
Washington is changing so rapidly that it is easy to miss important points.
Liberals are ganged up together to regain the power after the midterm. We old
generations are not used to new social media. Mr. Cho does not understand
Trump’s tweeting. No one in our ages likes tweeting as Trump tweeting. Simply
because of his inability to understand tweeting, he may not like Trump. In
fact, Tweeter is only 144 character message. But now it has a gigantic power
bigger than a nuclear bomb. In addition to Trump, even Putin uses tweeter to
communicate with the world leaders. I don’t know whether Moon is tweeting. If
he does, he could cover up his stutter for a short message. Come
to think of it. It takes training to write a short message to carry your idea
concisely. Mr. Cho is perhaps trained for a long discourse only. In short, Mr.
Cho used Woodward as his umbrella to attack Trump. The umbrella is not useful
because of so many leaky holes in it. I am talking for Mr. Cho. I hope he be
respected for a long time to come in Korea. I just remind him that there are
many wolves hungry for preys out there in the wilderness. America is an open
wilderness.
Mr. Cho won-jin is reportedly invited to the US. What
does it mean? He was the leading congressman supporting President Park now in prison.
The US is apparently protecting the life of Ms. Park as it did for Kim
dae-joong. Moon cannot hurt Park as last Park could not hurt Kim. The US let
all Koreans, the north and the south, know that the free Korea saved from the
Korean War will never be compromised by inviting relatively unknown Mr. WJ Cho.
to the US. Cho is the founder of Hankookaegookdang, about which I do not know
much except that the party has supported President Park consistently. At this
juncture, Saving of the life of Park is of paramount importance, because she
was the last holder of the legitimate free Korea established on August 15,
1948. The US recognizes the symbol of President Park and therefore would keep
her safe from any danger. Restoration of her position means restoration of the
free Korea. When visiting the US, there is only one short message to deliver to
the whole world. He can cry, or tweet such as: The free Korea is presently
under usurpation of communist Moon regime and therefore Korean citizens have
determined to remove this regime immediately by all means.
When South Korea opened trade with China for the first time
years ago, China demanded Korea to cut tie with Taiwan as a prerequisite. Korea
did not hesitate to throw away the old friend to take an immediate profit.
China has had a strong grip to control weak neighboring countries. Korea has
had historically to take a subservient position to get anything from China.
China was an emperor and Korea was a small king paying tribute to the emperor
every year. This relationship has never changed in essence. The founding
President Rhee 70 years ago has changed all this to establish free Korea. The
North Korea is still in the old chain. Now the trade war broke out between the
US and China. It started when China challenged the US to become a dominant
power especially in the far-east Asia. The Chinese ambition is no and no to the
US. But it is yes to Moon and his regime. This is a serious betray the US would
never allow to happen, because this is viewed as a US security breach. However,
the US would not send their young kids to fight back. Instead, they engaged in
the Trade War. The US will use the Chinese tactic this time. The US will stop any
countries trading with China from trading with the US. Some south eastern Asian
countries have already turned their back on China. Consequently, China is at
the verge of economic trouble into collapse. Moon and Kim JU just look at the
Chines emperor to receive an order. Moon is a helpless man by his own choice. Chairman
XI would not talk to Moon on equal basis, Of course, Japan Abe is not his
friend. Moon is a Trump hater. He has one and only friend to talk to, Kim
Jong-Un, beloved leader. Moon is going to make 3 day visit to Pyungyang in
September to meet with his only poor friend. They may have many things to
discuss. Who knows what they will discuss in secret? In its core, CVID, Trade
War, smuggle between the two countries, and American economic sanctions to both
the North and the South will be the major subjects. No subject has easy
solution. If Moon regime continues its trade with China, South Korea would have
no business with the US. Moon is not stupid. Rejecting CVID offhand is the end of
talk between the US and the North. Kim doesn’t want to end the talk because
what will happen after that is clear. They will discuss the Trade War. But they
don’t have much to offer. They may have a secret communication with Xi. But Xi
has his own trouble to face. It is amazing to realize that under Moon regime,
Korea has become an isolated poor country talking only to the poor Kim Jong-Un.
Is this the nation Korean people want? Moon will beg Trump to get permission to
help Kim only to get rejected. We don’t know how much money Kim Dae-Joong, Rho
Moo-Hyun, and Moon Jae-In have poured into the despotic government. They
allegedly sent a part of money smuggled by secretly selling Dokdo Island to
Japan. The innocent Korean people still call Dokdo our land. This is a tragic
story. The US is aware of all these dirty tricks played by these people. Our
only hope is to work with the US at the moment. Moon cannot continue too long
